3 Best Wedding Venues In Grand Rapids, MI
Grand Rapids isn’t all that well-known outside of the local area, and that’s exactly what people like about it.
Those who want a big city vibe will go to Detroit, Chicago, or Milwaukee, while those who want to get away from it all go to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
But if you want a happy middle ground with big city amenities and entertainment without big city prices, crime, and smelly smells, then Grand Rapids is your place.
And if you’re on the hunt for wedding venues in Grand Rapids, MI, then this article was written for you.
Now, we naturally can’t tell you about every single one, but we’re going to try to mention a couple of different kinds here to give you some idea of the variety you can select from here.
But you’ll probably come to notice that the common theme is that wedding venues in Grand Rapids, MI, tend to be a little bit more toned down than in the big cities.
And by that, we mean that they tend to have a calm and sophisticated vibe about them without as much of the noise and flashiness that you’d see in Chicago.
1. Broadway Avenue
Full disclosure: This is our venue, and we’re very proud of it.
We think we’ve got good reason to be.
We’ve been running Broadway as a loving husband and wife team since 2018, when we purchased this 120-year-old church and completely renovated it into one of the top wedding venues in Grand Rapids, MI.
Broadway has been a passion project of ours ever since then, and we think it shows in every detail.
If you want that classic American church look and feel for your wedding, then you’ll have a hard time finding a better place than our beautiful sanctuary.
And if you believe, as we do, that Jesus Christ is the center and guiding light of your soon-to-be marriage, then you’ll find kindred spirits here.
That’s something personal about us, and we feel comfortable sharing it with you because marriage is a personal thing, and you should be able to know that your venue will reflect the values you want your marriage to stand on.
That’s what makes Broadway special: It’s not just a generic wedding venue; it’s a venue with a conscious aesthetic and a conscious purpose, which are both directed toward something higher and more beautiful than anything we can accomplish alone.
And isn’t that also what marriage is, too?
So if you want to lean into the values that bring you together instead of quietly keeping them to yourself, and you want to surround yourself with reminders of them on your wedding day, we’d love to help you do that.
A wedding is about making your bond with one another official and making a clear statement about who you are as a couple and what matters most to both of you.
And what better way to do that than with a proper church wedding?
2. Grand Rapids Downtown Market
Most people don’t even know you can have your wedding here, which is crazy because it’s one of the best spots in town for that.
In our opinion, this is a spring and summer venue, and maybe also a fall venue.
Maybe not so much of a winter venue, but only because one of the main draws of it is just how green it is.
The management really does a great job of growing and nurturing all kinds of lush greenery throughout the grounds.
Both inside and outside, this is one of the greenest wedding venues in Grand Rapids, MI.
And to make things even more attractive, as the name suggests, the Grand Rapids Downtown Market is located in the downtown area of Grand Rapids.
So, you can enjoy the maximum level of convenience and access to everything the city has to offer before and after your ceremony.
That means restaurants, fun activities, and even just hanging out at one of our many bookstores, and relaxing after a long, hard, but rewarding day of getting married.
3. The Harris Building
Our last entry on this admittedly very short list is the all-inclusive Harris Building.
You’ll love everything, from their ballroom with its 18-foot domed ceiling to their classic brick interior and hardwood floors.
This place radiates class and looks like the sort of venue you’d expect the two protagonists of one of those Christmas romance movies to get married at as the snow blankets the town outside.
And because of how versatile the venue is, you’ve got a lot of freedom with regard to the sorts of decorations and setups you can have.
For example, you can line the aisle with candles, project compilation videos of your lives onto their huge screen wall, or give your florist a blank check and just let them run wild.
Maybe don’t do that last one. Budgeting is always wise.
But everything else we said stands.
The Harris Building earns its spot on this list, and its reviews attest to that.
We Wish We Could Include More
This really is a great town, and there are so many phenomenal wedding venues in Grand Rapids, MI, but we just can’t list them all in one article.
If we tried, then we wouldn’t be able to write really enough about each one to do them justice.
So we’ll have to end this article here with these 3.
No matter what kind of wedding you want to have or what kind of couple you are, we’re confident that you’ll be able to find a wedding venue here that will be just right for you.
The key thing to remember is that it’s always best to find a venue that embodies and reflects your values because all your ceremonies and wedding photos will have that venue in the background.
So, don’t be afraid to stand on your values, and most of all, don’t forget to enjoy the first day of the rest of your lives together.
Congratulations on your engagement, and we hope you have the best wedding ever! 🙂
